TAST - Detached Chain

Here's my go at detached chain stitch for the TAST challenge, again inspired by others' efforts particulary Jacqui 3a on Flickr and someone else's sampler on felt ( I must note down the details in future...). Quite pleased with the finished result though when I can make the effort I must dig out some felt or something similar to do a more freeform sampler. All mine so far have been done on aida and therefore concentrate on regular repeats.

TAST

I might be on a roll here so I'll have a go at posting the images that were one of the reasons I started this blog in the first place. I'm having an on and off go at Sharon Boggon's Take a Stitch Tuesday (TAST) which can be found on her blog Inaminuteago. I've managed to do the first 2 weeks (though not within the week), but have yet to make a start on weeks 3 and 4. Still Sharon keeps saying that it is not a competition just a fun exercise for people to dip in and out of so that is what I will do.

So for week 1 here are 2 Herringbone samplers. Both owe a lot to the ideas I saw on the various blogs and the second one in particular was copied from someone who's name I'm afraid I forgot to note down.

And here are 2 for buttonhole stitch: the first is almost a straight copy from Sharon's samples and I got the idea for the buttonhole ring from susaneta at TextileXplorations

First Post

I'm new to this whole blogging thing and though I'm enjoying reading other people's blogs I'm very uncertain about how much I actually want to write my own.

Still, now that I've signed up I really ought to have a play with it, try uploading some pictures etc and see how it goes. But I can't help thinking it would be just one more thing to add to my 'to-do' list and do I really want that!

So now I've managed to upload a picture and this is an ATC I made in response to Lisa Vollrath's Go Make Something Monday. She provided templates for both women and men's torsos in different sizes to use to make a tag. I decided not to make a tag but to stick it on an ATC and here it is.
